13:30 - 14:10

When designing cost effective products that make use of lightweight materials, including metallics, plastics and composite structures, it’s vital that engineering teams develop optimized design that ensure a minimum amount of material is used. In this presentation, a “Simulation Driven Design” approach will be discussed where intelligent design optimization technologies are deployed to rapidly create lightweight, material efficient and manufacturable designs that meet performance criteria. The presentation ends with an outlook on future developments and possibilities related to simulation driven design.

3 THINGS YOU WILL LEARN DURING THIS SESSION:
1. How design optimisation technologies can help remove the amount of material required to meet
performance targets
2. How this applies to various material types, including composites and metallics
3. How this approach can save both time and money in the development and manufacturing process
